Haplothrips (Trybomiella) nigricornis (Bagnall, 1910)
This species is probably native to Africa, and has been recorded from Wakayama and Kyoto in recent years. It is easily distinguished from congeners by lacking forewing duplicated cilia and dark antenna. It lives on the flowers of the invasive species, the Madagascar ragwort, Senecio madagascariensis (Astereae). It is obtained from marigolds in Kyoto. The detailed ecology is unknown, but it is probably Phytophagous.
